A Roundup of Bits and Pieces

Recent e-mail from Barbara Blass stating that the Board is still committed to the shutdown of the asphalt plant.....Meanwhile Nancy has followed up with Cardinale who responded that a shutdown was expected as the cold weather set in and does not expect a reopening unless there is a court order. We can only wait and see at this point.

Mike was kind enough to attend the December 16 election meeting of the Calverton Civic Association. We understand that Rex Farr was elected President. Don't know what their agenda is but we'll try to stay in communication with that group.

While gasoline prices have dropped somewhat (and then jumped back up a bit) there has been a noticeable increase in heating oil prices. Nancy has developed some interesting information on this that she has shared with us. Its amazing that one company can charge 2.59 per gallon while another offers 2.08.

Wilpon says that he has withdrawn his 66 million dollar offer for EPCAL but Cardinale doesn't think so. Can't anyone come up with a good solution to this and benefit the public at the same time?

Paying more for stamps on Jan8? Don't feel sorry for the Post Office. They are merely increasing prices in order to meet the mandated 3 billion dollar surplus they must run every year.
