The Riverhead Town Planning Board held it's monthly meeting this evening. The Mastronardi subdivision was on the agenda having been held over several times since the original submittal and presentation back in August.
You may recall that the Board listened to objections from our representatives and accepted a petition from our neighbors objecting to the cut-through of the cul-de-sac on The Preserve. The developers, you may recall, withdrew the subdivision and offered to redraw the plans without the cut-through. The plans were redrawn and resubmitted for Town engineer comments.
At the December 1st meeting, the new drawings were posted in the lobby wall and did not show the cut-through. Unfortunately this particlar agenda item was not "posted". Not sure of what that meant but assume there was no official notice to interested parties and therefore the representative of Young and Young was asked to defer this presentation until the next Planning Board meeting.
I asked to speak anyway and thanked the developer for eliminating the cut-through but asked for clarification of the status of the agricultural portion of the parcel. Can it be built on? Will it it be built on? Hopefully we'll have those answers at the next meeting.
Meanwhile I was surprised at the number of subdivision applications before the Board. There were several on Riley, Edwards and a large one being built in Riverhead by our own guys from Crystal Bay. These are all in the early stages but are likely to be approved.
