Town Board Sets Hearing for Runway Rules

When the Town Board passed a resolution allowing limited use of the runway at EPCAL (the former Calverton Naval Air Station & Grumman site) it became essential that rules for the operation of aircraft at the airport site be prepared. A public hearing for such rule suggestions and comments will be held in early October. Only one runway (14/32) the 10,000 ft runway, will be available for air operations.
Mastronardi Property Still Missing From Agenda
Once again, the Planning Board agenda for September 7 (7:00 PM) still does not include the Mastronardi subdivision. There has been little or no information about this new development in recent months but we urge everyone to remain alert including reviewing legal notices in the various local newspapers.
Town Expects Large Turnout for September 19 Meeting.
The September 19th Town Board meeting will include a public hearing at which comments will be taken regarding the rezoning of over 1600 acres of EPCAL as a precursor to the possible approval of the site for the Pulte subdivision (in which 462 homes will be constructed plus hotel, coference centers and golf facilities.)
WRIV Poll Suggests Public Trusts Itself First
Radio station WRIV (1390 AM) ran an informal poll this week asking listeners if they preferred that the Town or the Public decide how EPCAL should be utilized. Early results had the Public leading 40-0. !!!!!!
