Talk About a Raise - Not Casual Conversation

Now last week when talk about raises for the Town Councilmen (and woman) became the hot topic of conversation, I'm sure we all thought this was idle chatter and a subject for talk around the water cooler. Lo and behold - an official notice published in the News Review by the Riverhead Town Clerk gives notice of a public hearing to be held on November 8 at Town Hall to receive comments about this proposal to not only include hikes for the Councilpersons but the Supervisor, Tax Receiver, Assessors, Clerk, Justices and Highway Superintendent as well. Didn't know we were doing so well.

Who Is Eric Scott?
Scott won approval from the Board (sometime back) for the purchase of 40 acres at EPCAL to construct a water ski park. Workers were in the process of excavating for the two large lakes that would comprise the water park when they quickly reached the underground water table or aquifer that helps supply drinking water to Long Island residents. Needless to say work has stopped on the project. The DEC had approved this project. Hello!

F1 Go-Kart Goes Rolling Along
The Town Board has accepted the draft Environmental Impact Statement submitted by the F1 Go-Kart organization and has directed the Town Clerk to publish a notice of public hearing to take place on November 29 at 3 pm in the afternoon. The proposal is of course, for the go-cart raceway to be constructed on Edwards Avenue. And the beat goes on!

Next Planning Board Meeting
Thursday, November 2, at Town Hall, 7:00 PM. No word on the agenda as yet.
