E-Mails, Faxes, Phone Calls Sink Bill
Last week the Senate tried to slip two amendments into the Iraq Supplemental Spending Bill which would have had a serious impact on the American work force. One measure put in by Sen Feinstein (D) Ca. (called the AgJOBS amendment) would have granted legal status to over a million illegals working in agriculture by just the stroke of a pen. Another, by Mikulski would have increased H-2B foreign workers by as much as 400,000 over the next few years, taking jobs away from Americans.
Massive mailings, e-mails and faxes forced Majority Leader Reid (D) NV to rip the amendments from the bill. Let them know. It does work.
SWR Residents Unhappy About School Budget
Facing a 9% plus increase in the Shoreham-Wading River School Budget the residents wisely voted it down including a questionable use of the Repair Reserve Fund. A re-vote or a move to the contingency budget will be next on the agenda.
Oil, Gasoline, Gas and Heating Oil Price Increases - No End In Sight.
Until this Congress bites the bullet and permits domestic drilling, Americans will have to pay through the nose for energy. Oil shale, coal, nuclear - it is all possible and any move in that direction will take the pressure off prices.
