Gas Prices Climb to $3.99.9 in Riverhead
The price for regular gasoline in Riverhead, Calverton and the East End has reached $3.99 a gallon with some stations as high as $4.00. A few on the South Shore have even busted the $4.00 number with diesel well above the $4.00 mark.

Meanwhile truckers on the Texas border have been crossing into Mexico and filling up their diesel tanks for about $2.08 a gallon, or half what they have to pay on the U.S. side. Can not bring back any extra fuel however. Only what they can carry in their truck's tanks.

Isn't it time for someone (like W) to stand up and declare an energy emergency and initiate permits for drilling on U.S. soil and let the foreign oil cartel go begging for customers?

Apollo Scaling Down
A sign of the times. The Apollo group's original proposal has to be scaled down. Just can't find potential tenants for their proposed construction. Not a single hotel chain seems interested in a downtown Riverhead location. Others are lukewarm as well.

Heating Oil Will Be Off the Charts This Fall
Don't hear anyone talking about this item either. You will need a small loan to fill up a tank this winter unless things turnaround and very soon. First-get the State tax off heating oil in Suffolk now. Only county in NY State that pays such a tax.
