Paterson Directs Special Legislative Session

Gov. Davis A Paterson has called an emergency legislative session for Aug 19 with the objective of cutting the State budget by 1.2 billion dollars. He will slice $630 million unilaterally but doesn't plan any state employee reductions. (The current budget is $122 billion dollars.)


Oil & Gas Prices Costing Jobs

Congress is expected to go into their August recess without acting on the energy bill which would allow offshore drill as well as enact other measures. In a speech before the Senate today Sen. Kit Bond (R) MO said that over 6,000 American Airlines employees are facing layoff as a result of the cost of jet fuel. Delta will now charge $50 for your second piece of luggage.
