Rte 58 Commercial Limits
A recent court ruling will limit future commercial development on route 58. Supervisior Cardinale is unhappy with that decision and will seek to file an appeal. Meanwhile other members of the Board do not wish to appeal the court decision.

Fire District Property Swap Nixed
The Riverhead Fire District was hoping to swap some land on Second Street, owned by the District for some properties owned by the Town on route 58.
The Town was initially interested in finding a suitable location for a new Town Hall but decided to postpone the idea because of the weak economy and poor revenues. They have rejected the Fire District proposal.
Maybe the new firehouse on Roanoke was too small. You think?

Wal-Mart plans for a new store in Riverhead appear to be on the back burner. Could it be that the retail giant has slowed down on constructing new outlets until things pick up a bit?

The Town has plans to purchase the grounds of the Old Hubbard Duck farm out near the Indian River Park. The purchase would be for 77 acres at a cost of $5,425,000 to be shared with the County
