Town Board Approves Budget

Property tax increase will be 4%? The Town reserve fund will be depleted by just one percent leaving a 24% reserve. The Supervisor did not reveal what this meant in terms of dollars. (I believe in total transparency in this matter and there should be complete disclosure on Town finances when you are asked to pay more taxes).

Supervisor Cardinale states that the PD dispatcher function, which is being turned over to the County, will remain with the Town for the first 6 months of 2009. Furthermore, the displaced dispatchers will have first option on new deputy positions in the Suffolk Sheriff's department.

Romaine Seeks to Reduce Trailer Occupancy

Legislator Ed Romaine is hoping to get a bill passed through the legislature which would limit the number of sex offenders permitted in a single residence which could result in a severe restriction on the use of the trailer parked on the Riverside prison site.
