Happy New Year to All!

Casino for Suffolk? EPCAL?

Jim Stark, former Town Supervisor and recent candidate for the same post, says that the Shinnecock tribe has been in talks with Riverhead Resorts with a view to establish a casino at the EPCAL site.

Meanwhile, Presiding Suffolk legislature officer William Lindsay and legislator Wayne Horsley are pushing ahead with a proposal to establish a gaming commission here in Suffolk with the intention of selecting a site for a casino.

County Executive Steve Levy has been at the forefront of the casino idea and it may come to pass. There seems to be little reason for the Shinnecocks to get an inside track on this since the BLM has not recognized them as a tribe.

In other local news.Supervisor Phil Cardinale has not indicated that he will run for another term as Riverhead Supervisor.

Rash of gas station and bank robberies lately is not a good sign. Some blaming the outbreak on the economy. Not a good excuse.
