Fuel From Trees?
Last week Air New Zealand flew a 747-400 on a two hour test while using a very different fuel. The fuel was a 50/50 mixture of Jet Fuel
A1 and oil from the seeds of the jatropha tree, a tropical plant that grows wild in the jungle of Central and South America as well as in Africa. The tree does not require the use of expensive farmland as with corn produced for ethanol. Millions of acres of jatropha are now being planted in South America along railroad lines for easy harvesting and transport.

Air New Zealand will now break down the engines and analyze each component to determine whether there was any damage caused by the mixture. Is this the future for auto or truck fuels.? Stay tuned.
Casino Talk Persists.
Chatter about gaming or a casino operation in Suffolk County seems to
be getting louder. It all began recently when Ed Romaine suggested that a casino in downtown Riverhead would be beneficial to the community. Steve Levy, Suffolk County Executive announced that the County would be looking at the viability of a casino operation in Suffolk. Presiding Officer Lindsay and legislator Horsley began work on establishing a gaming commission to review all proposals. Meanwhile the Shinnecocks saw an opening for their casino aspirations either on their reservation grounds or if possible at EPCAL seeking a swap of land in order to achieve their goal. Is it possible that a casino operation could be established in Suffolk or anywhere in New York State without the participation of a tribe? It should be noted that the Shinnecocks are not certified by the Bureau of Indian Affairs as a recognized tribe.

The likely naming of Caroline Kennedy to fill the remaining term of Hillary Clinton certainly brings in to question whether the people of New York State are being properly represented in the halls of Congress. Hillary hasn't been anywhere in the State or introduced any meaningful legislation since she has been in office. Chucky has covered downtown Manhattan and the people just across the East River very nicely. Caroline will cover the upper east side or west side (never sure which side it is). So I guess we're good. What about the rest of the State?
