Rechler Cuts EPCAL Bid in Half
Several weeks ago Rechler indicated that it would no longer pay their original bid of $33 million dollars for industrial property at EPCAL. They have revised their bid downward to $18 million dollars to reflect the downturn in the economy. The Town is expected to accept the revised offer.

50 Red Light Cameras for Suffolk Traffic.
The Suffolk County legislature has proposed the installation of 50 cameras at red light intersection throughout Suffolk County. The automatic cameras are expected to generate high revenues for the County. State approval is required before installation of the units.

School District Planning 40 Layoffs, 3.8 % Budget Increase
The Riverhead School District is now planning to layoff 40 of it's personnel but still maintain a 3.8% tax levy. Residents will vote on the budget in May.

Tax Day Parties are Reving Up.
Currently there are hundreds of "Tea Parties" scheduled across the country on "Tax Day", April 15th. A Tax Day Tea Party is currently scheduled for Riverhead on the evening of April 15th between 7 and 9 pm. Location is The Riverhead Waterfront (behind the East End Arts Council Building). The 912 Project started by Glenn Beck now has over 400,000 members and more joining everyday. 912ers are joining with Tea Party members on their big tax day tea party as well as scheduling their own "We Surround Them" meetings. (check 912 project details in right column).
