Post Christmas Questions
1. The Landfill
The cost of the failed landfill reclamation project, the subsequent capping and the interest payments on the huge bond has placed an enormous burden on Riverhead townfolk. Now a  cost overrun has added an aditional 8.2 million dollars to the tab. The Riverhead Times-Review says "Councilwoman Barbara Blass is working on an analysis to determine what the cost would have been had the Town not attempted to reclaim the dump."  The question is WHY?

2. Health Care Bill
Chuck Schumer intimated the other day that all states ' were given something in the bill '(not just Nebraska). Turns out that some states won't have their Medicare Advantage cut out afterall. Others are getting similar treatment. Just what is in this bill and what deals were made? It will come out slowly but surely.

(Note: If this health care bill is so wonderful why does Democratic Congresswoman Louise Slaughter from NY 28th District want to throw it out and start over?)

3. Snow Plowing
Just how bad was the snow plowing effort in Riverhead and on some major highways. They were given plenty of notice. Fire hydrants were covered over in many places. So what happened?

4. Terrorist on Northwest
Scary moment when terrorist tried to set off some kind of incendiary device on a flight approaching Detroit from Amsterdam. Other passengers saved the day. Netherlands doesn't permit air marshalls on flights from their country. Why not and do you think they tell El Al to do the same?  There were all kinds of warnings about this guy.  Even his own father warned us about him.  More to come on this story.
