Board of Education Meeting-The Riverhead Board of Education will hold it's regular meeting on Tuesday, February 23 at 8 pm in the High School cafeteria. This is the first meeting since the $123 million dollar referendum was rejected by residents.
Sex Offender Bill may not fly. The bill recently enacted by the Riverhead Town Board spells out many restrictions regarding location of living quarters and proximity to schools, parks, day care centers etc. There has been a question as to whether the boundaries specified exceed the geographical limits of the Town's authority.
(Congratulations to Sean Walter, the Board and Town Clerk for expediting the publication of the minutes of Town Board meetings. We have sometimes waited over a month for minutes to be published in the past.)
Gary Bernsten will officially announce his candidacy for the First Congressional District (CD-1) on Sunday, February 1 at the Polish Hall in Riverhead. The event is scheduled for 2:00 pm that day.
Two more candidates are throwing their hats in the ring for the CD-1 seat. Michael Fitzpatrick (R-C) of the 7th Assembly District and Chris Nuzzi, now serving on the Southampton Town Council are both considering a run for the seat held by Tim Bishop(D). The current front runners are Gary Bernsten and Chris Cox in a field thats getting more crowded every minute.
Now here is something worth watching.
