Flood's Continuing Problems
The floods caused by the heavy rains this week are still causing problems for Riverhead residents. Middle Road, west of Doctors Path is still flooded and you enter at your own risk. The circle at Osborn and Middle Rd is still restricted and blocked off at the Osborn/Mill Rd fork. Lots of extra driving just to get to a location nearby.
Some homes on Horton are so badly damaged that they may have to be removed. Some 15 homes on the street have been flooded out by the rainstorm.
Baiting Hollow had the dubious distinction of recording the record rainfall in inches (8.2") on Tuesday evening.
Cuomo is Put on Notice
The two Republican candidates for Governor, Rick Lazio and Steve Levy are both asking the State Attorney General, Andrew Cuomo to sue the Federal Government over the mandates in the Health Care Bill which requires citizens to purchase health care insurance. Despite the fact that 14 attorneys-general have already filed suit, Cuomo is unlikely to file as requested since he is a Democrat.
Big Jump in Park Fees Starts Tomorrow
Some beaches are going from $6 to $8 on Saturday. Meanwhile golfers are going to have to cough up a $15 increase just to play the Black Course at Bethpage State Park. The NY State budget shortfall is staring to hit home in a personal way.
