Horton Avenue Houses in Jeopardy
State and local officials are looking at the possible permanent removal of some of the houses on Horton which were flooded out and virtually destroyed by the recent floods. Officials are also looking at moving some of the Horton residents to other locations in the Town. Some of the Horton Avenue occupants have been there for more than 50 years.
Unemployment Insurance Runs Out
Some 6000 Long Island residents have run out of their unemployment insurance benefits as of Monday, April 5. The job seekers have used all of their state and local benefits amounting to more than 99 weeks of unemployment checks.
