Bernsten Changes Course
Former CIA officer Gary Bernsten will now attempt to secure the Republican nomination for Senate, opposing Chuck Schumer in the November election.  Brnsten had been seeking the Republican and/or conservative nomination for CD-1 seat held by Tim Bishop but that field is very crowded with Randy Altschuler, former President Richard Nixon's grandson Chris Cox, George Demos and Mike Fitzpatrick.  Altschuler has already been selected by the Conservative Party so his move to the Senate battle is a wise one.

Walter Revises His Thinking
When Supervisor Sean Walter asked to speak before the 9-12 Project membership this past Wednesday he hadn't planned on changing his mind about his proposal to acquire the Great Rock Golf Course (which is said to be near bankruptcy).  He explained in a letter to Bob Meyer, chief organizer of the 9-12 Project that when someone shouted out "Let them fail" he realized that the Tea Party/9-12/CSA position about bailouts was the correct and conservative position that these groups have been talking about for almost two years.  He is now revising his thinking about the proposal.

School Board Questions
When the Riverhead School Board vote was finalized this week, some thought that the two contenders who won seats on the  Board were favored by the Teacher's Union.  Even outgoing Superintendent Scricca remarked about the result, wishing that the two incumbents Mary-Ellen Harkin and Christine Prete had retained their positions on the Board.  Incoming Board member Jeffrey Falisi denied any favoritism by or for the union.
