New Helicopter Rules Thursday
The long awaited rules for helicopter flyovers for Long Island will go into effect on Thursday, July 1.  The objective of the new ordinance was to reduce the noise from the choppers as they fly over communities on the North Shore on the way to Gabreski Airport in Hampton Bays or heliports in East Hampton.  The sensitive issue is where the noisy craft leave the LI Sound overflight and head to the South Shore.  We will know soon.

Cardboard Regatta A Success
I don't know if the organizers realized how popular the cardboard boat regatta was going to be but they may have a hit on their hands.
Almost 1000 people showed to watch the various craft, made entirely from cardboard and held together by duct tape, make their way on the Peconic River just south of Main Street.  Some boats stayed afloat for awhile, others just sank with a plan "for next year".

AZ Gets Short Changed
Arizona Governor Jan Brewer asked Washington for 3000 troops to protect the border. John Brennan says they are giving her 524.  Governor Brewer also asked for funding to help pay for the border protection.  Sorry, but Washington is sending double the amount she requested to Mexico instead!.
