County Executive Steve Levy is making plans to hire and train 70 to 80 new Suffolk police officers. His planning is contingent on the County selling a Suffolk owned nursing home. No word from the legislators on this initiative.
Riverhead Has the Blues
This Saturday and Sunday, July 17 and 18, Riverhead will host the 12th annual Riverhead Blues and Music Festival. The festival will be held on the Peconic waterfront on Saturday (7/17-18) from 11 am to 11 pm and Sunday 11 am to 9 pm. Admission price is $10 for each day or $16 for both. Kids under 12 can enter free. Admission includes showings at the Vail-Leavitt Music theater.
Riverhead Restricts Watering
The recent shortage of water in the Town and a concern that fire equipment will have enough water to fight fires has caused the Water District to request restrictions on lawn watering. The District has asked residents to restrict watering to alternate days; houses with odd numbers water on odd days and those with even house numbers, water on even numbered days.
Conservative? Primary?
The 9-12 Suffolk Project is reaching out to registered Conservatives by asking them to sign a petition which would force the party to hold a primary instead of having to accept a single nominee who has been selected by the local party chairman. Interested? Contact the 9-12 Project (in the sidebar) and they will bring the petition to you along with a notary to certify your signature.
