Primary Elections 2010
Primary elections will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2010.  Check for your local polling place.  The primaries will be held in Suffolk and throughout New York State.  These are "closed" primaries, meaning that only registered members of the  respective party may vote.  Of course all registered voters may vote in the general election to be held in November.

Some of the more interesting primary challenges are as follows:

U.S. Senate opposing Kirsten Gillibrand.
Republicans: Bruce Blakeman, David Malpass and Joseph Dioguardi
Preserve Journal endorses David Malpass

U.S. Senate opposing Charles Schumer
Republicans: Gary Bernsten and Jay Townsend
Preserve Journal endorses Gary Bernsten

Congressional District 1 Opposing Tim Bishop
Republicans: Chris Cox, Randy Altschuler and George Demos
Preserve Journal endorses Chris Cox

New York Governor Opposing Democrat Andrew Cuomo
Republicans: Carl Paladino and Rick Lazio
Conservative: Ralph Lorigo
Toss up.  Journal makes no endorsement

Some of the above candidates may also be running on the Conservative line as well.  So check your ballot carefully.

Editor's note:  The Suffolk 9-12 Project has endorsed David Malpass for U.S. Senate, Gary Bernsten for U.S. Senate, Chris Cox for CD-1 and Carl Paladino for NY State Governor.
