Trailer Deadline Missed
Suffolk County was supposed to have a plan in place by October 13 for substituting the trailers  housing sex offenders (located on the grounds of the Suffolk jail).  There is no plan as of yet.

Riverhead Resorts - Not Yet!
Officials of Riverhead Resorts met with the Town Board once again in an effort to secure an extension of their commitment to put up money for the EPCAL property purchase.  They now say that they can deliver $3.9 million dollars in early November.  They already owe the Town $6 million dollars toward the purchase of 755 acres at the Enterprise Park.  Board Members Jodi Giglio and George Gabrielsen were not pleased with Resorts presentation and walked out on the meeting.

Incorporate Downtown?
Town Board Member John Dunleavy has proposed the incorporation of downtown Riverhead hoping that it would improve the economics of the business area.  Dunleavy argues that Riverhead is the only Suffolk township that doesn't have an incorporated village within town boundaries.

Legislature Approves the Park
The Suffolk County legislature has approved the acquisition of 4.1 acres on Sound Avenue for  possible use as a park for residents.  Developers were hoping to place the parcel into commercial use.

Jobless claims spin up to 462,000.  Foreclosures at record high.

Sienna Poll has Tim Bishop leading Randy Altschuler by 12 points.
