Veterans Day November 11, 2010
On this day we honor all those Americans who have worn the uniform of The United States in the service of their country in both peace and war. They have defended our freedoms and protected our rights, often at great sacrifice to themselves and family. God bless them and the United States of America.
Bank Cancels Resorts Check
The London bank on which the Riverhead Resorts check for $3.8 million dollars was drawn has voided the check. Resorts contends that the bank felt it was too risky to issue such a large check and has now declared that it would wire the funds instead.
Meanwhile, Supervisor Sean Walter has called a special meeting for Friday, 11/12, when the board will decide whether to go ahead with the Riverhead Resorts deal or not. Walter is not confident that the cash will arrive as announced and hasn't said how he will vote on whether to continue with the project.
Tim Bishop Wants a Recount
Randy Altschuler (R) is now confident that he will win the congressional seat from Tim Bishop (D). He says he is 400 votes ahead of Bishop in the vote counting for CD-1 but Bishop is demanding a Suffolk County recount of all votes cast in addition to the absentee vote counting which gets underway this week.
Losquadro Also On Top
Dan Losquadro (R) also believes that he has won the NY Assembly seat from Marc Alessi (D) by announcing that he leads by 892 votes. A recount will probably be triggered and don't expect a final result very soon.
Levy Now a GOPer
As of today, County Executive Steve Levy has officially changed political parties and he can attach the Republican (R) to his name without challenge.
