First Assembly District Settled
Marc Alessi (D) has conceded the race for NY State Assemblyman in the First Assembly District to challenger Dan Losquadro (R) who was in the lead by over 900 votes when the final tally was made.
Losquadro, strongly supported by conservative groups, was specifically endorsed by the influential Suffolk 9-12 Project which boasts over a thousand members in the county.

Suffolk Gang Crackdown
The increasing presence of street gangs in Suffolk County has motivated the County Police Department to start an anti gang plan and campaign including signs which prohibit loitering in sensitive areas.

Riverhead Library Open
The Riverhead Public Library has reopened the doors to patrons when as a precaution, the Director called in treatment experts to inspect for the possibility of bed bugs.  It was reported that only a single bug was found.

Black Friday Parking at Tanger
They came from near and far to the Tanger Outlet Mall but late comers had to park at some distance from the mall.  Police had to block entrances until some parking spaces became available.  Determined shoppers had to find suitable parking areas a half mile or so east of the mall on route 58.
