Newly sworn in Governor Andrew Cuomo is getting off to a promising start with fiscal conservatives. Faced with a whopping 9.3 billion dollar deficit Cuomo announced his intentions to freeze the pay of 130,000 State workers, declare no increase in State taxes, put a cap on spending and limit school property taxes to a 2% cap. Lets hope he can deliver. Regardless of political party the public should be for his plan.
Move Over Law
The new year has brought many new laws. One of them is the "Move Over" law which requires that you move your vehicle to the left or middle lane when you see flashing lights up ahead. The law is designed for the safety of police or emergency personnel who may be working at the scene.
Many states have had similar laws on the books for some time.
Erosion...Needs to be Reviewed
Ed Romaine, Suffolk County legislator, is concerned that several towns on the East End may have suffered extensive damage from erosion due to stormy conditions over the past few months. Romaine will meet with environmental officials to discuss solutions to the problem.
Koz to be Official
Robert Kozakiewicz will be named to the position of Town Attorney at the Town Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday 1/4. The Board is also expected to name a Deputy Town Attorney as well.
