Riverhead Schools Budget Presentation
The Riverhead Central School District is continuing it's weekly public review of the 2011-2012 schools budget.  The public is invited to attend budget briefing sessions at the locations indicated.
3/22/11 - Riley Avenue School.  Cafeteria

3/29/11 - Aquebogue School Cafeteria

4/5/11  - Pulaski St.School

Levy Proposes Cap on Budget
County Executive Steve Levy has proposed a  cap on the growth of the county budget at 2% or the rate of inflation whichever is lower.
Read Levy's proposal here.  Other proposals are similar but cap the growth at 2% or higher.


New Sex Offender Plan
There is a new plan , not yet accepted, to replace the trailers located at the Suffolk County prison facility with four undisclosed locations in the County.  The four locations would be kept secret which is not going over well in some quarters.

Paper Bags for Leaf Program-Not so Fast
Your calendar from the Sanitation Department shows a three week time frame whereby the Town will pick up those leaves left over from the fall. It was required that you used the Town supplied paper bags (plastic no longer accepted) obtained from the Highway Department. Problem is that the Highway Dept didn't know about it and apparently the Sanitation people did not purchae the needed paper bags.  So the program is on hold until Highway and Sanitation can work it out.
