Treasurer Seeks Exec Post
Suffolk County Treasurer Angie Carpenter has been selected by the Suffolk County Republican Committee to run for the County Executive position now held by Steve Levy.  Levy, of course, has decided not to seek reelection to that position and withdrew from any possible nomination.

Steve Bellone, Babylon Town Supervisor, is the Democrat nominee for the County Exec seat and will challenge Carpenter.  A debate between the two has not been announced.

$78.4 Million Bond Issue Awaits Date
The Riverhead Central District School Board has reviewed a proposed repair and renovation bond issue but has not yet announced a date on which the public will vote to approve or disapprove the bond.

Lee Zeldin Pushing for Repeal of MTA Tax
State Senator Lee Zeldin is pushing hard for a repeal of the MTA payroll tax which Long Islanders have viewed for unfairly taxing them for MTA's problems.  Zeldin has created a special web site petition to encourage Long Islanders to make their voices heard on this issue.
