Library Director Passes Away.
We mourn this week the passing of Ms. Eileen Kavanagh, Director of the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library.  Ms. Kavanagh had been Director of the library since 1991 having first signed on in 1970.  She made a rapid rise to the top first being named to assist Mr.John Clark, the Director at that time and then, following Mr. Clark's retirement, named as Library Director.

Ms. Kavanagh left her indelible mark on the Library with new procedures and an amazing transformation of the library's physical structure with extensive renovation of the facility to provide imaginative floor planning, elegant reading rooms, unique children's areas and a pleasant ambiance for the patrons.
