We salute all those Americans past and present whose labors have contributed to making this such a great country.
We honor you on this Labor Day.
Need a Railroad Station?
MTA wants to lease the LIRR railroad station building in Riverhead. Been vacant for a while now. Last served as a food pantry until the lease ran out. Town frowned on that kind of operation. Several potential renters have looked at it including quick food or lunch counter, gift shop and art gallery. Always thought it would make a perfect police sub-station offering a downtown presence, near Main Street, the Library and, of course, the courts. Here is a name: Petticoat Junction. Not original huh!
The Riverhead Zoning Board of Appeals has had a vacant position since Charles Sclafani resigned in May. The Town Board has interviewed several candidates to fill the position and has now named Lisa Worthington of Wading River to fill the vacancy. Mrs Worthington has no governmental experience but has worked as a teacher in NY City for about eight years.
Riverhead Athlete Stars
Playing true to form, Miguel Maysonet former star running back with Riverhead High School scored three touchdowns and ran for 178 yards in his debut with Stony Brook.University. Great job Miguel.
Yard Sales
Yard sales are everywhere this weekend. Just drive around and you're sure to find one nearby.
