Legislator Vote on Tuesday
Residents of the First Legislative District (Suffolk County) will go to the polls on Tuesday to elect the replacement for Ed Romaine, former legislator and now Brookhaven Supervisor.

Sean Walter (R) current Riverhead Supervisor will be opposing Al Krupski (D) current member of the Southold Town Board.  We as Riverhead residents know of Walter's work and achievements as the chief executive in our town but probably not as familiar with Krupski an East Ender, longtime council member and usually portrayed as a low key representative.

The vote is on January 15.  This is a call that could go either way but this writer is reluctant to have the Democrats control the Legislature with a super majority which it would be if Krupski won the seat.

The Preserve Journal endorses Sean Walter for the legislative position.

Subdividing EPCAL
The Town Board is spending a lot of time in deciding how much of the remaining  EPCAL acreage will be set aside for development and how much will be preserved.  It is beginning to sound like the environmentalists and the DEC will get their way with about half the available acreage.  Wasn't the former Grumman property supposed to be "the economic engine that would bring prosperity to Riverhead"?

It is probably a case of "locking the barn door after the horse has been stolen" but wouldn't it have been more appropriate (at the very beginning) for these 2500 acres to have been turned over to an independent, non-political authority similar to the NY Port Authority, which would promote, manage and monitor this magnificent parcel for the good of the people of Riverhead?  Just asking!!
