Supervisor Sean Walter is now facing at least two challenges to his supervisory position. Democrat Angela DeVito, former member and past President of the Riverhead school board has announced her candidacy for Riverhead Town Supervisor. Mrs Devito cites her experience serving on various community boards in qualifying for the job and will seek the Democrat, Independence and Working Family endorsements.
Jim Wooten (R) current town councilman and board member has also indicated that he will challenge Walter for the top Riverhead slot. He will have to pass Republican screening first however in order to oppose Walter in a primary.
Meanwhile Supervisor Walter has said that he will be running for his third term in November and expects to get the Republican and Independence Party endorsements.
The list of challengers may not be complete. Stay tuned.
Brookhaven Highway Vote
Will Dan Losquadro (R) move on to the Brookhaven Highway job today or remain as State assemblyman for the North Fork assembly district? Brookhaven voters will decide today. Losquadros's Yes vote on Cuomo's heavy handed gun control bill may cost the assemblyman some votes.
No sooner had the North Fork Animal League taken over the Town animal shelter on Youngs Avenue when their spokesperson began talking about moving the shelter to EPCAL in a joint venture with the "Move the Shelter" group.
Someone suggested they takeover the Pfieffer Community Center building on the Grumman property. Was all of this on the table at the time the Board signed off on the takeover?
Is this organization operating in good faith? Lots of confusion in a situation that was thought to have been settled.
