No Primary for Dems
Jennifer Maertz, a Rocky Point attorney had considered forcing her fellow Democrats into a primary battle in the fall.  Maertz was seeking the Democratic nomination for State Assembly.  When the Party had selected someone else, Maertz wanted a primary to prove that she could pull enough votes to win.  She has now abandoned the battle and will now seek a nomination for the Senate or Assembly in 2014.

Jodi Says She Won't Quit
Town board member Jodi Giglio, under fire by office seeker Anthony Coates for possible code violations on her personal home says that she will not resign even though Coates has made her property a public issue.

School District Reorganization Meeting
On July 9 the Riverhead School District met and resolved a number of organizational issues.

  • Christopher Dorr was sworn in to his first term as a school board member
  • Anne Cotten-DeGrasse was re-elected as school board president
  • Gregory Meyer was re-elected as school board vice president
  • Sam Schneider recommendation for tenure was approved by the board.
