Councilman Bows Out of Tax Job
Recently Town Councilman Jim Wooten expressed interest in the position of Town Tax Receiver recently vacated by a retiring holder of that office.  Wooten has now decided that he is no longer interested in competing for the job and will not contest for the position.  Wooten may decide to run for the position of Supervisor  next year when Sean Walter's term expires.

Bike For Life at Mercy
Dozens of students from the Bishop McGann-Mercy school in Riverhead have begun a 120 mile Bike For Life exploit along the North Shore and then by ferry onto the roadways of Connecticut.

Wearing clearly identifiable yellow jerseys the group started out from Port Jefferson on Thursday and will return there when their long journey is over on Sunday.  This is an inspirational ride interrupted only by discussions about religion, life and spirituality.  Safe ride to all.

Now this is a great story..

Debate at Hofstra
There are only three Presidential debates currently scheduled.  Second of the three will be at Hofstra University here on Long Island on October 16.  A lively debate is expected.

Major Delays Expected.
Several major roadway repair projects on Long Island are expected to get underway  shortly.  You can expect the first of five scheduled for the LIE to include repairs to 11 miles of roadway and bridges.  Traffic delays are inevitable of course so better keep an eye out for repair alerts and scheduled closings.
