The education system known as Common Core is under attack from many groups including State Senators, teachers and parents. During a committee meeting this past Thursday State Sen Jack Martins (R-Mineola) informed Education Commissioner John B. King that he must delay implementation of Common Core in state schools or the State Legislature will do it for him.
Meanwhile a group of concerned teachers and parents will participate in a Common Core forum (protest) to be conducted next Wednesday evening (Jan 29) at the Aquarium between 6 and 8 pm.
State Senator Lavalle has also expressed his concern and is seeking to halt the implementation.
Centerport Restaurant Bankruptcy

Schumer Attacks Tea Parties
NY Senator Schumer, in a nationally televised news conference attacked "tea parties" for undermining the Democrat legislative agenda and suggested that the IRS redouble efforts to silence them. This is dangerous talk and all citizens, conservative or not, should be concerned about their right to voice opposition to policies which they do not agree with. Just a few days before, Gov Cuomo suggested that New Yorkers with traditional, conservative values should leave the state. This heavy handed, dictatorial manner of Cuomo should be of concern to every Long Islander, New Yorker and American.
