Town Board In Special Work Session
On Tuesday July 18, the Riverhead Town Board will meet in a special work session to review the results of the Reclamation Project survey prepared by FTM. The survey company is expected to announce results of their analysis of the landfill project with regard to initial expectations as to the volume of excavation and removal as opposed to the actual work accomplished and the amount of excavation and removal which remains to be done. Capping is a possible outcome of this work session.
Previous reports appeared to lack any accusation as to monetary wrong doing although there lingers a suggestion that several of the Town principals should have been aware of the budgetary limitations and only became alerted to the short funding when the money ran out. The regular Town Board meeting is still scheduled for 7:00 pm Tuesday 7/18.
Editor's note: The Town Board work session to review the FTM Reclamation report has been postponed until Wednesday, July 19. Board Member John Dunleavy has commented that the long awaited report does not cover key questions regarding the capping option, the consultant's accountability and cost. Many who have been expecting a concise report are already aggravated. And so it goes.
