New Offer for EPCAL-Sounds Familiar

The Town Board is considering a new offer fom the RexCorp and Long Island Destination Group for the purchase of 755 acres at EPCAL for 100 million dollars. The proposal includes a hotel and conference center, a motor sports facility (raceway), an equestrian center and a cultural arts and entertainment center and an indoor and outdoor sports facility as well as 1088 transient housing units. There seems to be no clear definition of the transient housing proposal although timeshare has been suggested. This is a new proposal but has some of the same participants as a previous raceway offering.

Vote For New Firehouse On Tuesday 3/20

Riverhead residents are asked to vote on the proposed, new 14 million dollar firehouse to be built with bond funding. If approved, residents will be subject to an approximate $100 per year increase in taxes to support the funding. There have been questions regarding the necessity of such a project both in size and expense. Voting is at the Second Street Firehouse on Tuesday 3/20/07
