Movin' On

Making a decision to sell the property that has been your home (and comfort zone) for a few years was not an easy one to make. The North Fork of Long Island is still one of the more desirable places to live. Driving the back roads in this area is still very rewarding. The endless farms, sod fields, horse country, corn fields, golf courses and vineyards are still very special to this observer. (and who can pass by the farm stands?)

If we are fortunate to sell the house in a timely fashion, we are confident that the next owners will share our appreciation of living in in this area. Real estate transactions always take time to negotiate and finalize so we'll be around until it is done. Our good neighbors, Lisa and Paul have also decided to sell and we wish them the best.

Meanwhile you can see our house listings on Zillow.com., craigslist.org (Long Island) and islandlist.com

China Imported Products Recall Epidemic
The recent and huge recall of toy products manufactured in China has retailers spinning. The products, meant for our kids, have an unacceptable level of lead which, of course, has been outlawed in the U.S. for many years. The nearly one million articles were manufactured for the Fisher Price division of Mattel and have also resulted in a shutdown of some factories in China.
In addition, the Feds have also announced the recall of some 250,000 tires made in China for our SUVs and pickup trucks and are considered a defective product.
Now throw in the specter of tainted seafood from China, especially that produced in fish farms where high levels of mercury have been detected. Country of origin labelling is a strong safeguard and should be imposed everywhere. (Wal-Mart Superstores upstate now label fresh fish products with country of origin labels.) OK how about downstate?
