Town Signs Landfill Cap Contract
The Riverhead Town Board agreed to sign a contract with Terry Contracting and Materials to close and cap the landfill project on Youngs Avenue. Terry had bid just under $7.4 million dollars to complete the job.

CDA Director Hired.
The Town Board has awarded the position of CDA Director to Chris Kempner who is currently a CDA staff member and on the Civil Service list. Ms. Kempner is a graduate of Cornell and holds a law degree from the University of Hawaii. Some had urged that the Town also recruit qualified personnel who were not on the list but that was rejected.

Resorts and Town Meet to Sign Contracts
Riverhead Resorts and the Town of Riverhead were scheduled to meet on January 2 to solidify the contract terms for the purchase of 755 acres of land at EPCAL for $155 million dollars.
(ed. note) The Board approved the agreement with Riverhead Resorts by a 3-2 vote.

Town Needs New Town Hall.
The Town seems to be very interested in the old Riverhead Building Supply warehouses on Ostrander on which to build a new Town Hall. This property is hardly large enough for their intended use and would probably require splitting the facility to two sides of the street. Lets hope they will look a little longer before jumping into this. This is hardly an urgent need.

New Year - New Roads Please.
We have a new Highway Commissioner (Woodson). So how about looking at some of the roads that are in really horrible condition including Reeves (between Osborne and Horton) and Twomey (between Youngs and Deep Hole)? How about something for the people?

Sick of the Mud on Youngs?
How sick are you of the mud hole that is Youngs Avenue opposite the landfill and Crown Sanitation? They need a sweeper on that stretch of roadway once or twice a day and guess who should pay for it?
