Riverhead Revenues Down 2 million

Supervisor Cardinale reports that Town revenues from mortgage taxes are down more than $2 million dollars from previous years.



New Supermarket for Route 58

There is a new proposal for the construction of a Compare Supermarket on busy Route 58 near Roanoke Avenue. The site location is supposedly where a muffler shop currently exists.



Huge Layoff Announcements Start off The Week

Caterpillar Tractor will layoff 20,000 workers

Home Depot will terminate some 7000 employees
(No word on how this will affect local Depot)

Sprint/Nextel to let go 8000.

(Sprint acquired Nextel in 2005 but has lost a large customer base)

Pfizer/Wyeth planning to let 20,000 go.

GM will terminate 2000
