Tap Street Project Begins
Construction of the dreaded tap street leading from The Preserve cul-de-sac to the adjacent Mastronardi development has begun in earnest.
Initially, the water main from The Preserve will be connected to the water main in the new development.
Note that the connecting roadway is much lower than the cul-de-sac and the roadway on the Preserve side will be lowered to match the grade.
Lowering the cul-de-sac will require digging up the pavement to change the grade.
Some of the workmen are saying that a straight roadway will be constructed with new curbing and elimination of the cul-de-sac's half circles on both sides.
There is no estimate of how long this will take. Who exactly is paying for all this water main work, tearing up paving and reconstructing the cul-de-sac?
This is a project that was totally unnecessary. The Preserve homeowners signed two petitions, made numerous pleas before the Planning Board all of which were ignored and now, will have to live with an intrusion on their right to safety for their kids and an unwanted thoroughfare.
Please remember this on election day. Everyone on the Town Board, Planning Board and the Supervisor share responsibility in this matter. Vote accordingly.
