Town Hall Meeting Alive & Well (Newsday article) 
The Town Hall meeting conducted by Congressman Steve Israel at Suffolk Community College in Brentwood Monday evening, proved once again that Americans are not backing down on problems with the administration and the White House. An overflow crowd of over 450 plus many more outside repeatedly interrupted Israel demanding that he listen to their point of view on everything from spending to healthcare.
E. Hampton Supervisor Resigns
William McGintee, Supervisor of East Hampton resigned suddenly on Monday morning amid the Town's financial problems. Some have predicted that E. Hampton will have a 20 million dollar deficit by the end of the year. A temporary supervisor will take over until a newly elected Supervisor takes office in January.
Cardinale Predicts Pension Shortfall
Town Supervisor says that the Town pension plan will be underfunded by about $600,000 due to economic conditions and devalued investments.
Employment Figure a Shocker
When the unemployment rate hit 9.8% last week we apparently had not heard the full story because not all the unemployed were included. The Department of Labor now says that the true unemployment number is 17%.
LILCO Plume Under Investigation.
The question is how LILCO vacated a substation on Montauk Highway in Riverhead. Was it abandoned without consideration or did they simply decide to ignore it. The contamination (nearby Mill Road and across from the Peconic) is under investigation.
The Real Reason Chicago Lost the Olympics
The current Democratic mantra as to the reason Chicago lost the Olympic bid (according to Bob Beckel ) is that the world hates George Bush.. Huh!
