Nelson Caves to Dem Prodding
Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Nebraska) caved into the Senate Democratic leadership today by agreeing to the mammoth health care bill being pushed by Harry Reid and friends.
Nelson's vote wil be the #60 needed to end cloture allowing the vote to come to the Senate floor just before Christmas Day.  Nelson said in a press conference in the Senate corridor that he had been assured that all the items that he objected to had now been taken care of.
He was quite vague on a number of issues and only assumed they had been addressed.
In return for his vote Nebraska was assured of tens of millions of dollars in Medicaid assistance but there was no mention of  keeping open the Offutt Strategic Air Command base .  The rumor was that the base would be closed, putting thousands out of work if he didn't vote for the bill.
And so...another Senator agrees to violate the Constitution of the United States in return for "pork on the barrelhead".  What a joke!!

Minority leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said, "This bill is a legislative train wreck of historic proportions".

Grumman Hawkeye Funded
Congress has fully funded the Northrop-Grumman EZ-d Advanced Hawkeye carrier plane which will mean added jobs for the aircraft company at it's Bethpage plant.  Anything for EPCAL?

Oil Prices Stable
Have you noticed how oil prices remain at or around the $70 per brl price.  This is exactly where the Saudis wanted it to be several months ago.  Any announcement that the U.S. is planning to drill in North America (for gas or oil) wil send that oil price into a nosedive.
