Superintendent Scricca will retire at end of June.  Nancy Carney who was appointed Deputy Superintendent last year is slated to be appointed as the new Superintendent.  The Board will vote on the upgraded position for Ms Carney at its April 27th meeting.

Brentwood Teachers will accept a pay reduction in order to save the jobs of other teachers who would have been furloughed.  Brentwood School District is the largest school district on Long Island.

School Budget meetings are scheduled for April 27th at the Pulaski School with a meeting and budget hearing on May 11 at the Riverhead High School.  Voting on the budget is scheduled for May 18 at the Riverhead High School gym.

Town to Acquire Firehouse on Second Avenue.  The firehouse on 2nd will soon be vacated and the Town is looking at the facility to house the ambulance headquarters in exchange for some property on route 58.

Nassau Exec Talking Casino.  Nassau County Executive Mangano has been having ongoing talks with the Shinnecock Tribe with an eye toward a casino operation in the Nassau Coliseum and a new sports arena for Wang and the Islanders
