Riverhead Walmart is Back
The appellate division has thrown out the lawsuit filed by a shopping center owner and six members of a union which had effectively shutdown the plans for a new Walmart store in Riverhead.  The court stated that those who filed the suit had no standing in the court.

Bayport-Blue Point Teachers in a Freeze
Teachers of the Bayport-Blue Point teachers Union have agreed to an 18 month salary freeze until 2012.

Suffolk GOP Makes it Official
The Suffolk County Republican Party has officially chosen their slate of candidates for the 2010 elections.

Lee Zeldin will oppose Brian Foley for State Senate

Daniel Losquadro to oppose Marc Alessi for State Assembly

A primary for the CD-1 seat now held by Tim Bishop will include potential candidates Mike Fitzpatrick, Christopher Cox, Randy Altschuler and George Demos.  (Gary Bernsten was not mentioned)

John Gomez will run for the CD-2 seat

Richard Blumenthal will run in the 2nd Assembly District

The Preserve Journal endorses Mary Meyer for election to the Riverhead School Board.  Vote Tuesday May 18 at the Riverhead High School gym from 6 am to 9 pm.
