LI School Aid Way Down
New York State to Long Island School Districts is way down with just $80 million dollars now scheduled for distribution in the coming year.

Supe Asks for Pay Cut
Riverhead Supervisor Sean Walter has asked that all Town employees take a 5% cut in pay for the coming year.  Union officials indicate that they are not going to do that.  Riverhead is facing a $6 million dollar budget deficit.  With the reserve fund in a steady depletion and the possibility that the Riverhead Resorts EPCAL deal may be on the rocks, the town is facing some serious decisions.

Paper Ballots
You are probably aware that the old machine/lever operated election booths will be replaced this fall with a paper ballot system which will require the voter to fill in their election choices with pencil and then slide the ballot paper into a reader for the vote tally.
Holy slowdown Batman!  Isn't that a terrible waste of the public's time and a stepback to an earlier age?  I'm  predicting long lines or a possibility that some people just won't show.  Who thinks of these things anyway?

Chuck-You May Be On to Something!
Sen Chuck Schumer is asking FEMA to review it's flood plain designations.  Some Long Island residents are up in arms over being assigned a flood plain label and now have to pay out flood insurance premiums in addition to regular homeowner's insurance premiums.  The protesters say that they aren't even close to water and have never had a flooding issue.  Could it be that FEMA funding is seriously in the RED and now is looking at more premiums to get out from under?
