Riverhead Resorts Has a Deadline
The Town's contract with Riverhead Resorts for the purchase of 755 acres at EPCAL may be nearing an end.  The Town Board has given Resorts until September 7 to come up with a $4 million dollar payment or the contract will be terminated.  They have already missed making two scheduled payments.  Two Board members are in favor of terminating the contract now and not wait for the September deadline.

Rechler Wins Extension
Rechler Equity Partners has won a 3 month extension from the Town for the purchase of industrial parcels at EPCAL, paying a $125,000 fee for the Town's approval.

Suffolk Has a Trailer Plan
The Suffolk County legislature is working on a plan that would eliminate the use of trailers for the housing of sex offenders on the grounds of the prison at Riverside.  No word on the plan details.

Big Brother is Watching
Word is out that the Riverhead Town Building inspectors are using aerial observers to check on illegal structures on resident's properties.  On his Wednesday TV program Sean Hannity reported that the Town was using Google Earth for it's "eyes on the ground".

NY State Budget Cuts Long Island
It is now reported that New York State has, at long last, a budget for the coming year.  The news for schools and hospitals , unfortunately, is not good.  School aid for Long Island will be cut by $173 million dollars and funds for hospitals will be reduced by some $19 million dollars.
