Long Island Oil Prices - Outrageous
Why is the price for home heating oil on Long Island so outrageously high.  Heating oil is a basic necessity for many Long Islanders and represents a large part of a family's budget.  Drilling for more oil is an obvious partial solution to the problem but so is the Keystone Pipeline which Obama and Company stand firmly against.  This is a real problem, not a bunch of political rhetoric.

Long Island politicians - don't you have any guts to remove the heating oil tax on Suffolk County oil delivery?  Where is your courage?  Bellone - what is your position on this?
SOMEBODY STAND UP FOR THE PEOPLE!!!!!

Charter School Expansion
The Charter School located on Route 25 is seeking to expand its facilities to provide for  additional grade levels 7 and 8.  Grades are currently limited to K through 6.  The school has adequate space on its six acres for additional classroom construction but may have difficulty funding the project.
The Charter School is not permitted to issue bonds for such funding and is looking for help from the town's IDA (Industrial Development Agency for assistance in obtaining the necessary financing. Completion of the project would enable the school to increase the student body from the present 280 to 400 students.

Assisted Living Proposal.
The Town is currently reviewing a proposal which would amend the zoning for retirement communities to provide suitable zoning for assisted living facilities as well..  There are many considerations which factor into an assisted living facility including age limitations, medical care, ambulatory services, recreation and so much more.  The Peconic Bay Medical Center has expressed interest in the proposal and has offered to provide advice and assistance as needed.

Councilman John Dunleavy points out that over 20% of the Riverhead population consists of seniors and that the Town should look seriously at this proposal as an alternative to its residents having to find a suitable facility in another town.
